Jabil Inc. (NYSE:JBL) reported better-than-expected third-quarter results. CERo Therapeutics Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:CERO) shares jumped 189% on Tuesday after the company received FDA Orphan Drug Designation for CER-1236 for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia.

On the economic front, U.S. retail sales fell 0.9% month-over-month in May compared to a revised 0.1% decline in April and versus market estimates of a 0.7% fall. U.S. import prices came in unchanged from the previous month in May, while export prices declined 0.9% month-over-month in May. U.S. industrial production declined 0.2% in May, versus market estimates of a 0.1% gain.

Most sectors on the S&P 500 closed on a negative note, with health care, materials and consumer discretionary stocks recording the biggest losses on Tuesday. However, energy stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

The Dow Jones closed lower by over 299 points to 42,215.80 on Tuesday. The S&P 500 dipped 0.84% to 5,982.72, while the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.91% to 19,521.09 during Tuesday’s session.

Investors are awaiting earnings results from Korn Ferry (NYSE:KFY), GMS Inc. (NYSE:GMS) and Euroseas Ltd. (NASDAQ:ESEA) today.

• Wall Street expects Korn Ferry (NYSE:KFY) to report quarterly earnings at $1.26 per share on revenue of $689.90 million before the opening bell, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Korn Ferry shares gained 3.7% to $69.20 in after-hours trading.
• Beyond Air Inc. (NASDAQ:XAIR) posted mixed fourth-quarter results after Tuesday’s closing bell. Beyond Air reported quarterly losses of nine cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of a loss of 12 cents. Quarterly revenue came in at $1.15 million, which missed the Street estimate of $1.39 million and is up from revenue of $470,000 from the same period last year. Beyond Air shares tumbled 18.2% to $0.2330 in the after-hours trading session.
• Analysts are expecting GMS Inc. (NYSE:GMS) to post earnings at $1.11 per share on revenue of $1.30 billion for the latest quarter. The company will release earnings before the markets open. GMS shares fell 0.3% to $73.00 in the after-hours trading session.

U.S. stocks settled higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 300 points during the session after Iran signaled it wants to de-escalate tensions with Israel and return to negotiations, easing geopolitical jitters that had rattled investors and sent oil prices surging last week.

Sage Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:SAGE) shares surged over 35% on Monday after Supernus Pharmaceuticals agreed to acquire the company. Shares of Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRPT) dipped more than 42% after the company suspended ELEVIDYS shipments and paused the ENVISION trial following a second fatal liver failure in non-ambulatory Duchenne patients.

On the economic front, the New York Empire State Manufacturing Index dipped to a reading of -16 in June compared to May’s reading of -9.2, and also down from market estimates of -5.5.

With industry sales decelerating at a faster pace than expected in May, CarMax Inc.‘s (NYSE:KMX) earnings estimate for the fiscal first quarter has been cut from $1.45 per share to $1.25 per share, though this is still higher than the consensus of $1.20, according to JPMorgan.

The CarMax Analyst: Analyst Rajat Gupta reiterated an Underweight rating and price target of $55.

The CarMax Thesis: The company is likely facing higher deceleration due to “acute” supply shortages of vehicles that are one to five years old, Gupta said in the note.

He added that This trend will likely continue through the calendar year 2025 before improving.

“SS comps are likely to decelerate in F2Q based on normal seasonality” as well as tougher comps due to CDK outage benefits, the analyst wrote. CarMax also faces tougher comps in the back half of the year due to “hurricanes and post-election bump in demand,” he further stated.

There are limited catalysts in the near- to medium-term that could drive estimates higher, Gupta said.
