Retailer Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) may provide a better picture of the impact of tariffs on consumers when the company reports first-quarter financial results before market open Thursday.

Here are the analyst estimates, a look at what experts are saying ahead of the report and key items to watch.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Walmart to report first-quarter revenue of $165.88 billion. That’s up from $161.51 billion in last year’s first quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in more than 10 straight quarters.

Analysts expect Walmart to report earnings per share of 58 cents, down from 60 cents per share in Q1 2024.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in five straight quarters and nine of the last ten quarters overall. The lone non-beat was earnings in line with estimates.

The company’s guidance calls for first-quarter sales to be up 3% to 4% year over year. Earnings per share range between 57 cents and 58 cents.

What Experts Are Saying: In a recent note, Telsey Advisory analyst Joseph Feldman said Walmart could benefit from grocery market share gains and improving e-commerce progress in the first quarter.

The analyst maintained an Outperform rating and price target for $115.

Feldman said Walmart could gain wallet share from several groups, including higher-income consumers. The analyst said Amazon and Costco showed trends of first-quarter sales being stronger for categories like electronics.

Feldman said Walmart should navigate the uncertain macroeconomic environment effectively.

Bank of America analyst Robert Ohmes said Walmart is well-equipped to handle tariffs with its pricing and automation strategies, inventory management and strong supplier relationships.

The analyst maintained a Buy rating with a $120 price target ahead of the quarterly earnings.

Ohmes said Walmart’s groceries are less likely to be impacted by tariffs.

Freedom Capital Markets Chief Global Strategist Jay Woods highlighted the importance of Walmart’s financial results for the market in his weekly newsletter.

“Walmart could be one of the most telling stocks when it comes to tariff impacts when they report on Thursday,” Woods said.

Woods said Walmart was cautious with guidance after the last quarter.

“Investors will be closely watching this report for strategies on managing tariff-related challenges, maintaining competitive pricing, and supply chain issues that may make stocking shelves more of a challenge.”

Key Items to Watch: Tariffs commentary will undoubtedly be the biggest item in Walmart’s earnings and conference call.

Outside of tariffs, investors and analysts could also look at commentary on the company’s Walmart+ membership program. The subscription-based service was responsible for around 50% of online spending in the U.S. last fiscal year. This could make it a strong source of ecommerce and recurring revenue.

A report said the program is seeing increased spending per subscriber and also higher shopping frequency rates from subscribers.

Walmart+ has also helped the retailer post 11 consecutive quarters of double-digit online sales growth in the United States.

Global e-commerce sales were up 16% year-over-year in Q4; this will be a key area to watch in Q1.

WMT Price Action: Walmart stock was up 1.3% to $97.11 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $59.47 to $105.30. Walmart stock is up 7.9% year-to-date in 2025 and up over 60% in the last year.

Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) could highlight new products and continued AI momentum when it reports third-quarter financial results after the market closes on Wednesday.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Cisco to report third-quarter revenue of $14.05 billion, up from $12.7 billion in last year’s third quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in more than 10 straight quarters.

Analysts expect Cisco to report third-quarter earnings per share of 92 cents, up from 88 cents per share in last year’s third quarter. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in more than 10 straight quarters.

The company’s guidance calls for third-quarter revenue to be between $13.9 billion and $14.1 billion and earnings per share to be between 90 cents and 92 cents per share.

Key Items to Watch: Analysts and investors will be looking for Cisco to carry momentum from its second quarter when it reported that product orders grew 29% year over year and AI Infrastructure orders reached over $350 million.

“As AI becomes more pervasive, we are well positioned to help our customers scale their network infrastructure, increase their data capacity requirements, and adopt best-in-class AI security,” Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said after second-quarter results.

The company recently announced a new quantum chip created in collaboration with US Santa Barbara. The chip helps quantum networks scale and could be an item covered by the company during its management commentary or conference call questions.

Ahead of quarterly earnings, several analysts lowered their price targets on Cisco. Here are some of the recent analyst ratings and their price targets:

CSCO Price Action: Cisco stock trades at $61.83 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $44.50 to $66.50. Cisco stock is up 4.6% year-to-date in 2025, with shares up 27% over the last year.

Entertainment and technology company Sony Group Corp (NYSE:SONY) could highlight an upcoming television and movie slate along with potential higher prices for PlayStation video game consoles due to tariffs when the company reports fourth-quarter financial results before market open Wednesday.

Earnings Estimates: Sony Is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings per share of 12 cents, down from 21 cents per share in last year’s fourth quarter according to Zacks.

The company has beaten analyst earnings per share estimates in two straight quarters and eight of the last 10 quarters overall, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

Analysts expect Sony to report fourth-quarter revenue of $20.4 billion, down from $23.5 billion in last year’s fourth quarter.

The company beat revenue estimates in the third quarter  and has beaten revenue estimates in seven of the last 10 quarters overall.

Key Items to Watch: One of the items being closely watched for the diversified tech company is a potential spinoff of the Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corp. The company previously said it was considering spinning off this unit in 2025.

Sony is also planning to spin off Sony Financial Group, the company’s financial arm.

The spinoff moves were previously tossed around as ideas by activist investor Dan Loeb.

Another area to watch could be the company’s movie and television segment. Sony released several movies in the first quarter with minimal box office success. “One of Them Days” ranks 12^th domestically in 2025 with $50.1 million at the box office. The film made minimal international revenue with a global total of $51.9 million.

“Paddington in Peru” ranks 16^th domestically in 2025 for box office with $45.8 million. The film has grossed $168.7 million globally since its release.

Most of Sony’s top 2024 films were released later in the year, making the comp period easier. The company released “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” in March 2024, which went on to gross $113.4 million domestically and $202.0 million globally.

Sony could highlight its upcoming film slate, which includes “Karate Kids: Legends” on May 30, “28 Years Later” on June 20 and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” on July 18. The company’s biggest domestic hit in 2024 was “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” which grossed $193.6 million.

The company also creates and produces hit television series for a number of networks and streaming companies. Sony could highlight some of the hits and upcoming series.

Video games will likely be another key topic with Sony ready to raise prices on the PlayStation 5 console due to tariffs. Sony sold 9.5 million PlayStation 5s in the third fiscal quarter, up from 8.2 million in the previous year’s third quarter.

While the console figure won’t be as high in the fourth quarter, it could be important if it shows year-over-year growth.

Commentary from Sony on if it plans to keep the raised prices in place and if this has impacted demand and/or margins will also be closely watched by investors and analysts.

SONY Price Action: Sony stock trades at $24.66 Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $15.19 to $26.08. Sony stock is up 17% year-to-date in 2025 and up 62% over the last year.

Apparel company Under Armour (NYSE:UAA)(NYSE:UA) could highlight how the latest China tariff news could be good news when the company reports fourth-quarter financial results before market open Tuesday.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Under Armour to report fourth-quarter revenue of $1.16 billion, down from $1.33 billion in last year’s fourth quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in four straight quarters and in eight of the last 10 quarters overall.

Analysts expect the company to report a loss of 8 cents per share, down from a profit of 11 cents per share in last year’s fourth quarter.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in more than 10 straight quarters.

What Analysts Are Saying: Demand and guidance are two key areas in Under Armour’s quarterly results that Telsey Advisory Group analyst Cristina Fernandez will be watching.

The analyst reiterated a Market Perform rating and lowered the price target from $10 to $7 ahead of the quarterly results.

Fernandez said she will be watching to see how fiscal 2026 is shaping up and how consumers are responding to new product offerings.

The analyst also said Under Armour needs to talk about tariffs. The company previously said it gets only 3% of items from China, but is exposed to other Asian countries with tariffs.

For Fernandez to become more bullish on the stock, she said it would take details on the company’s distribution strategies and more signs of revenue growth.

Freedom Capital Markets Chief Global Strategist Jay Woods offers a pun on the apparel stock ahead of quarterly financial results.

“For long-term shareholders of Under Armour, they would be better off hiding out, literally, under armor than trying to make money by owning the stock,” Woods said in a weekly newsletter.

Woods said the all-time high for the stock coincided with the height of the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry winning championships.

“Coming into earnings the company is trading just above all-time lows and is looking for a new catalyst to turn things around.”

Woods said the good news is there is a “near-term opportunity to watch.”

The market strategist highlighted technicals for the stock and the 20-day moving average being a point that has led to short-lived rallies. Woods said upward momentum could lead to a larger rally.

“It’s not a pretty picture, but risk/reward metrics for a short-term trade and potential near-term bottom look possible.”

Key Items to Watch: Under Armour’s quarterly results come in between quarterly reports from rival Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE).

Nike reported a 12% year-over-year decline for footwear revenue, it’s largest revenue decline on a year-over-year basis for the segment in more than a decade.

Under Armour reported footwear sales declined 9% year-over-year in the third quarter. Analysts and investors will be closely monitoring this category to see how the company’s performance stacks up against Nike and to hear management’s insights on new products, competition and market share.

International could be another key area to watch. Under Armour saw international revenue decline 1% year-over-year in the third quarter.

Tariffs will be a major talking point for analysts. Under Armour’s report will come days after the United States and China agreed to a reduction in tariffs on goods imported to each country. The timing of the trade deal could play into Under Armour’s favor, with the company now needing to account for only a smaller tariff amount if factoring this into guidance or commentary.

While many know that NBA star Steph Curry has a deal with Under Armour, the company continues to sign other athletes to endorsements. The company’s latest deals include several 2025 NFL Draft Picks, including first overall pick Cam Ward.

Expected to be the starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season, Ward could become a superstar in the league and provide a boost to Under Armour.

“Joining Under Armour is more than just a sponsorship deal. It’s a partnership,” Ward said.

UAA Price Action: Under Armour stock was up 6% to $6.20 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $4.78 to $11.89. Under Armour stock is down 24.3% year-to-date in 2025, while shares are down around 10% in the last year.

Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN) could show the company’s leadership in the cryptocurrency ecosystem with first-quarter financial results after market close Wednesday.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Coinbase to report first-quarter revenue of $2.13 billion, up from $1.64 billion in last year’s first quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company beat analyst estimates for revenue in the last reported quarter, while beating estimates in eight of the last 10 quarters overall.

Analysts expect Coinbase to report first-quarter earnings per share of $2.12, up from $1.65 in last year’s first quarter. The company has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in eight straight quarters and eight of the last 10 quarters overall.

What Analysts Are Saying: Rosenblatt analyst Chris Brendler recently warned that “crypto winter” could be underway and it could hurt momentum for Coinbase stock.

The analyst said sentiment on crypto has reversed with “sharply rising macro concerns.”

Brendler reiterated a Buy rating on the stock while lowering the price target from $305 to $290.

The analyst said Coinbase’s trading volumes in March were likely lower than expected. Brendler sees a rebound in crypto-related trading activity in the second half of 2025.

“In our view, legislative clarity will accelerate blockchain technology adoption and COIN will be a primary beneficiary,” Brendler said.

Goldman Sachs analyst James Yaro sees a balanced risk/reward for Coinbase heading into the earnings report. The analyst took over coverage of Coinbase at Goldman Sachs after the stock was previously covered by Will Nance.

Yaro gave Coinbase a Neutral rating and a $195 price target.

With pure-play exposure to the cryptocurrency sector, Yaro sees long-term growth for Coinbase as the crypto ecosystem expands.

“We are cautiously optimistic on COIN, but see a balance of upside and downside risks,” Yaro said.

Yaro highlights a positive regulatory environment for crypto that could support Coinbase’s growth, but also be a negative.

“Longer-term, regulatory reform could increase the crypto TAM, but also bring in competitors from across financial services. Competition could pressure COIN’s market share and pricing over time.”

Key Items to Watch: Analysts and investors will be looking at many items in Coinbase’s earnings report with the price of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) trading strong in January before falling in March.

Transaction revenue was up 172% quarter-over-quarter in the fourth quarter. This could be a key item to show whether Coinbase continues its leadership in the cryptocurrency ecosystem and also if traders were active in the first quarter with Donald Trump inaugurated and high volatility during the quarter.

Subscription and services has been a bright spot for Coinbase in recent quarters, bringing the company high-margin recurring revenue. Subscription and services revenue of $641 million in the fourth quarter was up 15% quarter-over-quarter and came in ahead of company guidance. The company is guiding for first-quarter subscription and services revenue in a range of $685 million to $765 million.

Bitcoin made up 27% of both trading volume and transaction revenue in the fourth quarter. This was down from 37% and 35% respectively, in the third quarter. The new quarterly results will show if Bitcoin regained its dominance or saw lower activity due to other cryptocurrencies.

XRP Token (CRYPTO: XRP) could be another item to watch after making up 14% of transaction revenue in the fourth quarter and seeing strong demand from Coinbase users.

COIN Price Action: Coinbase stock is down 0.7% to $195.47 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $142.58 to $349.75. Coinbase stock is down 21.4% year-to-date in 2025 and down 8.9% over the last year.

The drop in Coinbase’s stock price comes with Bitcoin up 3.1% year-to-date and up 54.5% over the last year.

Online used car seller Carvana Co (NYSE:CVNA) could continue stock momentum with a strong first-quarter financial report when the company reports after market close Wednesday.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Carvana to report first-quarter revenue of $3.98 billion, up from $3.06 billion in last year’s first quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in four straight quarters and six of the last 10 quarters overall.

Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter earnings per share of 66 cents, up from 23 cents per share in the first quarter.

What Analysts Are Saying: An improving leverage ratio and the paying down of debt saw Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas upgrade Carvana stock from Equal-Weight to Overweight in March.

The analyst raised the price target from $260 to $280, while highlighting upside growth in EBITDA margins and retail unit growth.

“Carvana’s performance is particularly impressive when compared to its auto retailing peers who have struggled to grow used volumes this year,” Jonas said.

The analyst said Carvana only has 1% market share of the U.S. used car market and is just now approaching its prior peak retail unit volumes, which were met back in 2021 and 2022.

Jonas called Carvana a “potential Amazon of auto retail.”

Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter said Carvana is better insulated than competitors on tariff risks. The analyst said that while macro uncertainty remains, Carvana can “grow aggressively” in the used car market.

Potter upgraded the stock from Neutral to Overweight with a $225 price target at the time.

Bank of America analyst Justin Post recently reiterated a Buy rating on Carvana with a $220 price target.

The analyst brushed off concern from Amazon.com Inc entering the used car space. Post said Amazon’s move could benefit the entire online used car sector.

Carvana reported fourth-quarter revenue that was up 46% year-over-year with 114,379 vehicle sales representing 50% year-over-year growth.

Analysts and investors will hope for more growth in items like revenue, vehicles sold and net income margin in the quarter. Carvana previously said it expected the number of retail units sold to grow sequentially in the first quarter.

CVNA Price Action: Carvana stock was up 0.3% to $258.59 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $97.55 to $292.84. Carvana stock is up 30.4% year-to-date in 2025, with shares up over 111% in the last year.

Key Items to Watch: Lucid previously reported first-quarter deliveries of 3,199 vehicles, a company record and up 58% year over year.

The first quarter’s delivery momentum continued a strong 2024, which saw the company post four consecutive quarters of record deliveries.

The company’s guidance calls for the production of 20,000 vehicles in 2025. Analysts and investors will be looking to see if this guidance remains in place and if the company shares details on delivery guidance for 2025.

Lucid recently unveiled the 2026 Lucid Gravity SUV, a three-row electric vehicle that could better compete with Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and other EV SUV makers. The new version starts at $94,900 with a lower-priced model expected to start at $79,900 and hit the market later this year.

Investors and analysts will be looking for more commentary on the impact of tariffs on Lucid. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff previously said the company will be affected by tariffs and is taking steps to lower the impact.

While tariffs could be negative for Lucid, one positive that could get traction in the earnings report and commentary is potential market share gains from rival Tesla.

Winteroff previously said that Lucid was seeing a sharp increase in orders for vehicles from former Tesla owners, which comes as some have grown tired of CEO Elon Musk’s push into politics. Tesla vehicles have also been the subject of increased vandalism.

LCID Price Action: Lucid stock is down 5.75 to $2.38 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $1.93 to $4.43. Lucid stock is down 21.3% year-to-date in 2025.

What Analysts Are Saying: Analysts have been lowering the price target on Rivian stock ahead of first-quarter financial results.

Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter downgraded the stock from Overweight to Neutral and lowered the price target from $19 to $13.

The analyst said Rivian’s outlook in the coming years is favorable, but it faces a short-term outlook that won’t excite investors and several potential negative headwinds.

Potter said Rivian has “no catalysts in 2025.”

“We struggle to identify upside catalysts in 2025. In 2026, investors can look forward to the R2 launch and (maybe) JV customer wins,” Potter said.

The analyst said the lower-priced R2 launch is vital to Rivian stock, but doesn’t launch until 2026.

While Rivian gets downgraded, Potter noted the stock is Piper’s favorite Neutral-rated stock in the sector.

“We like Rivian’s strategy, particularly self-reliance in electronics and software.”

Potter said along with Rivian having no catalysts in 2025, the company faces a potential “triple-whammy” of policy risk that could happen in 2025 or beyond.

There are three policy risks to consider: the Trump administration could pull Rivian’s Department of Energy loan funding; the $7,500 EV tax credit could be canceled; and CARB (California Air Resources Board) could lose the ability to regulate emissions, which could hurt credit revenue.

Rivian previously announced 8,640 vehicle deliveries in the first quarter, which was down 36.4% year-over-year. The company has reaffirmed its full-year 2025 delivery guidance of a range of 46,000 to 51,000 vehicles.

Analysts and investors will want to see this guidance maintained and would also love more color on an early look at 2026 delivery estimates with the R2 scheduled for deliveries in the first half of 2026.

Rivian previously announced it was opening up its delivery van orders to customers outside of early investor and partner Amazon.com Inc. The company recently announced it has signed a deal with meal kit company HelloFresh for 70 Rivian vans to be added to its commercial vehicle fleet.

The electric vehicle company will likely be asked to comment on the impact tariffs and the new White House administration could have on upcoming production and deliveries. Rivian produces the majority of its vehicles in the United States, but it could be impacted by the end of tax credits for electric vehicles.

In recent interviews, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe has shown confidence in the R2 launch and called for the EV sector to have more vehicles under the $50,000 price point. The R2 is expected to have a starting price of around $45,000.

Scaringe will likely share his belief that this vehicle launch is critical for Rivian’s financial future and for the EV sector at large.

RIVN Price Action: Rivian stock is down 1.9% to $13.56 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $9.25 to $18.86. Rivian stock is up 2.8% year-to-date in 2025 and up 31.8% over the last year.

In the world of social media apps, Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) dominates with Facebook and Instagram, which have about three billion users daily.

The company’s newest platform, Threads, is also gaining subscribers fast.

What Happened: Threads, a potential rival to platforms like X and Bluesky, had 275 million monthly users back in October. By December, it had 300 million monthly active users.

Meta ended the fourth quarter with 320 million Threads monthly users.

On Wednesday, Zuckerberg shared that Threads had hit 350 million monthly users, adding 30 million users in the first quarter, as reported by TechCrunch.

The growth of 30 million outpaced a 20 million user gain in the fourth quarter.

Zuckerberg said Threads “continues to be on track to become our next major social app.”

Why It’s Important: While Threads has grown in size, it still is relatively small compared to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. CEO Linda Yaccarino said Wednesday that X has 600 million monthly users.

Bluesky, a decentralized X alternative, has 35 million monthly users, according to the report.

Threads continues to grow and is part of the Meta family that includes Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta said Wednesday that 3.4 billion people use one of its apps daily, or over 40% of the world’s population.

Investors will continue to monitor the quarterly growth of Threads as it could help make Meta more valuable with more monetization opportunities down the road.

META Price Action: Meta stock is up 4.7% to $574.87 on Thursday versus a 52-week trading range of $432.28 to $740.89. Meta stock is down 4.1% year-to-date in 2025.
