• Wall Street expects Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) to report quarterly earnings at $4.90 per share on revenue of $16.17 billion before the opening bell, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Caterpillar shares rose 0.1% to $434.06 in after-hours trading.
• Analysts are expecting Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) to have earned 57 cents per share on revenue of $13.41 billion for the latest quarter. The company will release earnings before the markets open. Pfizer shares rose 0.5% to $23.65 in after-hours trading.
• Paymentus Holdings Inc. (NYSE:PAY) reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results and raised its FY25 sales guidance. The company reported quarterly earnings of 15 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 14 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $280.08 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $261.81 million. Paymentus shares climbed 4.2% to $30.56 in the after-hours trading session.

• Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) reported better-than-expected financial results for the second quarter and raised its full-year guidance. Palantir reported second-quarter revenue of $1.004 billion, beating analyst estimates of $939.71 million. The company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of 16 cents per share, beating analyst estimates of 14 cents per share. Palantir shares jumped 4.6% to $168.00 in the after-hours trading session.
• Analysts expect Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) to post quarterly earnings of 49 cents per share on revenue of $7.41 billion after the closing bell. AMD shares rose 1.2% to $178.90 in after-hours trading.

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed further decline in the overall market sentiment, while the index moved to the “Neutral” zone on Friday.

U.S. stocks settled lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 500 points during the session.

Major indices also recorded losses last week, with the S&P 500 falling 2.4% to record its worst weekly performance since May 23, while the Dow dipped 2.9% to notch its worst week since April 4.

Trade war concerns resurfaced after President Donald Trump announced sweeping new tariffs on countries without a formal trade agreement with the U.S. Key levies include 25% on imports from India, 39% from Switzerland, 20% from Taiwan, 30% from South Africa, 35% on Canadian goods, and a staggering 50% on Brazilian exports.

While July payrolls rose by 73,000—well below the 110,000 expected—revisions to prior months shocked markets: May and June payrolls were slashed by a combined 258,000 — the largest downward revision since 2020 — pointing to deeper cracks in the labor market than previously thought.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) fell more than 8% on Friday after the company reported second-quarter financial results. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also lost 2.5% despite posting stronger-than-expected third-quarter results.

Most sectors on the S&P 500 closed on a negative note, with consumer discretionary, information technology and energy stocks recording the biggest losses on Friday. However, health care and consumer staples stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

The Dow Jones closed lower by 542 points to 43,588.58 on Friday. The S&P 500 fell 1.60% to 6,238.01, while the Nasdaq Composite dipped 2.24% to 20,650.13 during Friday’s session.

Investors are awaiting earnings results Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE:TSN), ON Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:ON) and Aecom (NYSE:ACM) today.

• Wall Street expects Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE:TSN) to report quarterly earnings at 88 cents per share on revenue of $13.54 billion before the opening bell, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Tyson Foods shares rose 0.4% to close at $52.53 on Friday.
• Analysts are expecting ON Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:ON) to have earned 53 cents per share on revenue of $1.45 billion for the latest quarter. The company will release earnings before the markets open. ON Semiconductor shares fell 1% to $56.25 in after-hours trading.
• Sohu.com Ltd. (NASDAQ:SOHU) reported a loss of 68 cents per share for the second quarter, versus a year-ago loss of $1.05 per share. The company’s sales fell to $126.27 million from $172.33 million in the year-ago period. Sohu shares fell 0.9% to close at $15.40 on Monday.

• After the markets close, MercadoLibre, Inc. (NASDAQ:MELI) is projected to report quarterly earnings at $12.19 per share on revenue of $6.56 billion. MercadoLibre shares gained 0.1% to close at $2,375.92 on Friday.

U.S. initial jobless claims rose by 1,000 from the previous week to 218,000 in the fourth week of July, compared to market estimates of 224,000.

Most sectors on the S&P 500 closed on a negative note, with materials, real estate and health care stocks recording the biggest losses on Thursday. However, communication services and utilities stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

The Dow Jones closed lower by 330 points to 44,130.98 on Thursday. The S&P 500 fell 0.37% to 6,339.39, while the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.03% to 21,122.45 during Thursday’s session.

The iPhone maker reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $94 billion, beating analyst estimates of $89.04 billion by 5.6%. U.S. stocks settled lower on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 150 points during the session after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said “no decision” has been made on a September rate cut.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady at 4.25%-4.50% as expected, yet two members broke ranks to support a rate cut, marking the most divided Fed meeting in over three decades.

Wingstop Inc. (NASDAQ:WING) shares jumped around 27% on Wednesday after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter EPS and sales. Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:CAR) fell 15% following worse-than-expected quarterly EPS and sales.

On the economic data front, U.S. pending home sales declined by 0.8% from the previous month in May, following a 1.8% gain in April. The U.S. economy expanded at an annualized rate of 3% in the second quarter following a 0.5% contraction in the previous quarter. Private businesses in the U.S. added 104,000 jobs in July, compared to market estimates of a 75,000 increase.

The coffee giant reported third-quarter adjusted earnings of 50 cents per share, missing analyst estimates of 65 cents per share, according to Benzinga Pro. Starbucks shares surged 4.6% to $97.25 in the after-hours trading session.

U.S. stocks settled mixed on Monday, with the S&P 500 recording gains as markets reacted to the U.S.-EU trade deal struck over the weekend. Under the new trade agreement, the U.S. will impose a 15% tariff on EU imports, including pharmaceuticals and automobiles. Certain sectors, such as steel, aluminum, and copper, will face steeper tariffs of up to 50%.

All three major indices closed the week higher, with the 30-stock Dow gaining around 1.3% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq adding 1%. The broad market S&P 500 climbed around 1.5% last week.

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) jumped 3% after the U.S. announced lower-than-expected tariffs on European goods, including autos, and following CEO Elon Musk’s revelation of a $16.5 billion deal with Samsung Electronics to produce next-generation chips.

Most sectors on the S&P 500 closed on a negative note, with real estate, materials and utilities stocks recording the biggest losses on Monday. However, energy and information technology stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session higher.

The Dow Jones closed lower by 64 points to 44,837.56 on Monday. The S&P 500 gained 0.02% to 6,389.77, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.33% to 21,178.58 during Monday’s session.
