The CNN Money Fear and Greed index showed some improvement in the overall market sentiment, while the index remained in the “Greed” zone on Friday.

U.S. stocks settled higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 400 points during the session following the release of jobs data.

Nonfarm payrolls rose by 139,000 in May, beating consensus expectations of 130,000, according to data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Average hourly earnings rose 0.4% in May, the strongest monthly increase since January and ahead of the expected 0.3%. The US unemployment rate came in steady at 4.2% for May.

Shares of ABM Industries Inc. (NYSE:ABM) fell more than 9% on Friday after the company reported results for the second quarter. DocuSign Inc. (NASDAQ:DOCU) shares dipped 19% during the session following first-quarter results.

All sectors on the S&P 500 closed on a positive note, with consumer discretionary, energy and communication services stocks recording the biggest gains on Friday.

The Dow Jones closed higher by around 443 points to 42,762.87 on Friday. The S&P 500 rose 1.03% to 6,000.36, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.20% to 19,529.95 during Friday’s session.

Investors are awaiting earnings results from Motorcar Parts of America Inc. (NASDAQ:MPAA), Graham Corp. (NYSE:GHM) and Casey’s General Stores Inc. (NASDAQ:CASY) today.

What is CNN Business Fear & Greed Index?

At a current reading of 63.3, the index remained in the “Greed” zone on Friday, versus a prior reading of 59.4.

The Fear & Greed Index is a measure of the current market sentiment. It is based on the premise that higher fear exerts pressure on stock prices, while higher greed has the opposite effect. Casey’s General Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ:CASY) will release its fourth-quarter financial results after the closing bell on Monday, June 9.

Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings at $1.95 per share, down from $2.34 per share in the year-ago period. Casey’s projects quarterly revenue of $3.95 billion, compared to $3.6 billion a year earlier, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

On April 11, Keybanc analyst Bradley Thomas initiated coverage of Casey’s with an Overweight rating and announced a price target of $500.

With the recent buzz around Casey’s, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company’s dividends too. As of now, Casey’s offers an annual dividend yield of 0.45%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 50 per share ($2.00 a year).

To figure out how to earn $500 monthly from Casey’s, we start with the yearly target of $6,000 ($500 x 12 months).

Next, we take this amount and divide it by Casey’s $2.00 dividend: $6,000 / 2.00 = 3,000 shares.

So, an investor would need to own approximately $1,337,070 worth of Casey’s, or 3,000 shares to generate a monthly dividend income of $500.

Assuming a more conservative goal of $100 monthly ($1,200 annually), we do the same calculation: $1,200 / $2.00 = 600 shares, or $267,414 to generate a monthly dividend income of $100.

Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.

The dividend yield is calculated by dividing the annual dividend payment by the current stock price. As the stock price changes, the dividend yield will also change.

For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and its current price is $50, its dividend yield would be 4%. However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield would decrease to 3.33% ($2/$60).

Conversely, if the stock price decreases to $40, the dividend yield would increase to 5% ($2/$40).

Further, the dividend payment itself can also change over time, which can also impact the dividend yield. If a company increases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will increase even if the stock price remains the same. Similarly, if a company decreases its dividend payment, the dividend yield will decrease.

CASY Price Action: Shares of Casey’s fell by 0.6% to close at $445.69 on Thursday.

• On June 3, Dollar General reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings and raised its full-year outlook. The general store operator said quarterly net sales increased 5.3% to $10.44 billion, barely missing the consensus of $10.64 billion. The company reported net income of $391.9 million, up 7.9%, with earnings of $1.78 per share, compared to $1.65 a year ago, beating the consensus of $1.58. The company’s stock jumped around 21% over the past month and has a 52-week high of $135.57.

The strength of the beer category and the continued momentum of our megabrands delivered another quarter of profitable growth,” said CEO Michel Doukeris. The company’s stock gained around 8% over the past month and has a 52-week high of $71.94.

With U.S. stock futures trading lower this morning on Thursday, some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are as follows:

• Wall Street expects Ciena Corp. (NYSE:CIEN) to report quarterly earnings at 52 cents per share on revenue of $1.09 billion before the opening bell, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Ciena shares gained 2% to $85.58 in after-hours trading.
• PVH Corp. (NYSE:PVH) posted upbeat earnings for the first quarter, but cut its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS guidance from a range of $12.40 to $12.75 to a new range of $10.75 to $11, versus the $12.52 analyst estimate. PVH shares dipped 7.4% to $74.82 in the after-hours trading session.
• Analysts expect The Toro Co. (NYSE:TTC) to report quarterly earnings of $1.39 per share on revenue of $1.35 billion. The company will release earnings before the markets open. Toro shares fell 0.8% to $75.00 in after-hours trading.

• MongoDB Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results for fiscal 2026 after the market closed on Wednesday. MongoDB raised its outlook for fiscal 2026. The company said it now expects full-year revenue of $2.25 billion to $2.29 billion, up from prior guidance of $2.24 billion to $2.28 billion. MongoDB expects full-year adjusted earnings to be between $2.94 and $3.12 per share, up from a previous forecast of $2.44 to $2.62 per share. MongoDB shares jumped 14.6% to $228.89 in the after-hours trading session.
• Analysts expect Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) to post quarterly earnings at $1.56 per share on revenue of $14.99 billion after the closing bell. Broadcom shares rose 0.1% to $261.21 in after-hours trading.

Semiconductor giant Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:AVGO) will look to continue its recent history of beating analyst projections when the company reports second-quarter financial results Thursday after market close.

Here are the analyst estimates, what experts are saying ahead of the report and key items to watch.

Earnings Estimates: Analysts expect Broadcom to report second-quarter revenue of $14.99 billion, up from $12.49 billion in last year’s second quarter, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

The company beat analyst estimates in the first quarter and has beaten analyst estimates for revenue in eight of the last 10 quarters overall

Analysts expect Broadcom to report second-quarter earnings per share of $1.56, up from $1.10 in last year’s second quarter. The company beat estimates in the first quarter and has beaten analyst estimates for earnings per share in nine of the last 10 quarters overall.

Guidance from the company calls for second-quarter revenue to be $14.9 billion.

What Experts Are Saying: Strong demand for Broadcom’s AI products and a stabilization of the company’s non-AI semi-business could see a second-quarter beat, JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur recently said.

The analyst maintained an Overweight rating and price target of $250.

Sur said Broadcom is also likely to guide for higher than expected third-quarter revenue, led by its AI demand strength.

“Broadcom remains our overall top pick in our semiconductor coverage given their exposure to AI infrastructure spending trends combined with their diversified end market exposure and best-in-class gross, operation and free cash flow margins,” Sur said.

Freedom Capital Markets Chief Global Strategist Jay Woods said Broadcom is “basically Nvidia’s baby brother,” with the company growing in Nvidia’s shadows for years.

“Shares have rallied just over 500% from its 2022 lows which pales to the 1250+% rally in Nvidia. However, over the past 52-weeks AVGO shares are leading, up 82% compared to Nvidia’s 23% gain,” Woods said in a weekly newsletter.

Woods said Broadcom stock sits near a key resistance level of $250.

“Technically, if AVGO wanted to step out of NVDA’s shadows this would be the chance to do so and lead the semiconductors higher.”

Woods said in the tough market environment, Broadcom stock may see a challenge to go higher and investors could look to buy on a dip at around $220.

“For the long-term investors, ignore the noise to come. Shares have suffered through the worst and should break out in due time. It just may not be this time.”

Key Items to Watch: Broadcom’s recent news could be highlighted by the company during the earnings report and conference call and could also factor into future guidance.

The company recently announced the official launch of VMware Tanzu CloudHealth’s latest enhancements, including a redesigned user experience and new AI-driven features.

The company also recently announced it had started shipping the Tomahawk 6 switch series, which is built to power the next generation of AI networks.

AI will be one of the most watched segments for the company’s financial results. In the first quarter, AI revenue was up 77% year-over-year to $4.1 billion. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan predicted second-quarter AI revenue would grow to $4.4 billion.

AVGO Price Action: Broadcom stock is up 1.6% to $261.08 on Wednesday versus a 52-week trading range of $128.50 to $265.43. Broadcom stock is up 13% year-to-date in 2025 and up over 96% in the last year.

PVH Corp. (NYSE:PVH), owner of brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, will release earnings results for the first quarter, after the closing bell on Wednesday, June 4.

Analysts expect the New York-based company to report quarterly earnings at $2.25 per share, down from $2.45 per share in the year-ago period. PVH projects to report quarterly revenue at $1.93 billion, compared to $1.95 billion a year earlier, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

On May 30, Needham analyst Tom Nikic initiated coverage on PVH with a Buy rating. He gave the company a price target of $115.

With the recent buzz around PVH, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company’s dividends too. Currently, PVH offers an annual dividend yield of 0.18%. That’s a quarterly dividend amount of 4 cents per share (15 cents a year).  

So, how can investors exploit its dividend yield to pocket a regular $500 monthly?

To earn $500 per month or $6,000 annually from dividends alone, you would need an investment of approximately $3,301,600 or around 40,000 shares. For a more modest $100 per month or $1,200 per year, you would need $660,320 or around 8,000 shares.

To calculate: Divide the desired annual income ($6,000 or $1,200) by the dividend ($0.15 in this case). So, $6,000 / $0.15 = 40,000 ($500 per month), and $1,200 / $0.15 = 8,000 shares ($100 per month).

Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.

How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock’s current price.

For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).

Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.

PVH Price Action: Shares of PVH gained 0.5% to close at $82.54 on Tuesday.
