One of the best ways to build wealth is with dividend stocks.
In fact, according to a Janus Henderson Global Dividend Index report, as noted by Insider Monkey, “U.S. dividend stocks were remarkably resilient, rising 2.6% year over year to a new high of $503.1 billion in 2020. The report mentioned that North America performed well primarily because companies were able to save cash and preserve dividends by suspending or reducing share buybacks. According to Janus Henderson’s best-case scenario, dividends will increase by 5% to $1.32 trillion in 2021.”
Some of the top companies that have raised dividends recently include:
FedEx (FDX), for example, just raised its quarterly dividend to 75 cents a share, a 10-cent increase from the prior dividend. The dividend is payable July 12, 2021 to stockholders of record at the close of business on June 28, 2021.
MGM Growth Properties (MGP) declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.515 per share. On an annualized basis, the dividend of $2.06 represents an increase of $0.08 per share. This is the 13th dividend increase since MGP’s initial public offering in April 2016. The dividend will be payable on July 15, 2021 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on June 30, 2021, as noted in a company press release.
H&R Block (HRB) also increased its quarterly dividend by 4%, representing the fifth increase in the dividend in six years and a 35% total increase over that time frame. The quarterly cash dividend is now $0.27 per share, payable on July 1, 2021 to shareholders of record as of June 25, 2021, as noted in a company press release.
Chubb Limited (CB) increased its dividend to $3.20 per share annually ($0.80 per share, per quarter) from $3.12 per share ($0.78 per share, per quarter). This marks the twenty-eighth consecutive annual increase in the company’s dividend.
Lowe’s Companies (LOW) declared a quarterly cash dividend of eighty cents ($0.80) per share, payable August 4, 2021, to shareholders of record as of July 21, 2021. Based on its confidence in the company’s continued business momentum, its growth trajectory and strong cash flow generation, the board of directors approved a 33 percent increase in the quarterly cash dividend. Lowe’s has paid a cash dividend every quarter since going public in 1961, and it has increased the dividend for more than 25 consecutive years.
